Much like the Tecre Manual Button Maker Machine, the Electric Button Maker is also designed to require very little maintenance. The best care products for the electric button machine can be found in your home or at your local hardware store. Here is what you need, where you need to apply it, and how often.
What you need (and what you do NOT):
A general rule of thumb is that the 3-in-One oil can be applied anywhere that there is visible grease on the button maker machine. Most of these areas are indicated in yellow. Depending on use, the button maker may only need lubricating about once every month.
It is important to note that only 1 drop of oil is needed. Over lubricating will get you into a slippery situation involving excessive oil inside the button maker and the inability to clean effectively.
NEVER use WD-40 inside the button making machine. Some people think that this lubricant is appropriate. Don’t be that person.
Periodically, debris and dirt should be removed from the button maker. The best practice for this removal is to first lightly vacuum the machine’s innards. This will remove any loose dust. Next, you can spray the internal organs of the button maker machine with compressed air. Yes, this is the same can of air that you use to remove Wednesday’s tuna salad sandwich from your keyboard. After spraying, lightly vacuum the insides once again before replacing the cover.

Great tips guys! We found too much lubrication between the walking beam and press links caused the bolt directly below it to wriggle loose. Be sure to check this bolt is tight to ensure well formed buttons are produced. 🙂
Thank you for your input Paul! The bolt that you are referring to is a shoulder bolt with a NYLOC NUT on it that should NOT be tight. It needs to move freely. We snug the nut on the bolt then turn it one quarter turn counter clockwise so it can move. Call us if you have any questions on this!
Any advice on how to remove the Die Carrier?
One of ours has gone out of alignment and needs to be reset.
Thanks 🙂
Hi Paul. The die carrier plate does not need to be removed. All you need to do is rotate it until it locks into place then follow the instruction on the following video on changing out the Die Set. If you have any questions please contact Tecre at 800-394-9168 for further help. Thank you!

Purchased a tecre machine from a 3rd party — used it for awhile and now it has stopped working. Can hear the electricity run through when I step on the peddle, but the die plate does not rotate. Do you do repairs/have a network of places that can repair?
Hi Lela! We would love to help you get this going again and this may be an easy fix! Please call Tecre (920)922-9168 and ask to speak to Brian!
